The Lonely Wood Continued
…when it does there is also the people who go either quiet or will not talk for almost the rest of their lives. In 2010 it will be another 13 years so we advise anyone who has read this article to not go anywhere near that dreaded place. I take the view that if people do that then the problem will be solved and this lonely wood should break its continuing chain of events. Unfortunately people will go in thinking that they have the ability to solve this mystery of which they are wrong about. We have however found a portion of the wood which people can venture into which is the most strangest occurrence since it seems the old border of the wood is where the disappearances occur and however they do disappear it is that part of the wood which seems to be the lonely wood. In the 117 years that this has been happening 9 people have gone missing. To most people this seems like a small number but it still seems to happen so we warn all people away from the wood. At what ever means do not go venturing into the wood as it will only bring misery and loneliness. The only shred of information that can be gotten from the people who do make it out of the wood something about a cloaked figure. So I conclude that these disappearances are down to people but it must be multiple people for it to continue for over 100 years. These strange events when they first started occurring 117 years ago people just assumed that these people just moved away and thought nothing of it and saw the crazy person as mentally unstable sometimes they would get accused of murdering the person who went missing.

Today we explain the mystery of the lonely wood, the place were people seems to go missing at random some times people venture into that wood and are never seen again. Many of the people who do get out of the wood seem to go crazy or won’t talk about what happens to people in that dreaded place. The only pattern that has been noticed with that place is the fact that it happens every 13 years…

story updated
Two people decide to go exploring their local wood which is coated with a bloody history which interests one of the two and decides that he wants to go exploring the wood to find out why exactly the place has such a bloody history. they go away from the tourist trail and venture deeper into the wood. A dark, dim and eerily strange part of the wood, which nobody dares to go into. The local nickname for the wood is the lonely wood. As the venture deeper into the heart of the wood the trees start to get closer and closer together, giving them slow route there but also making it more complicated to escape from the wood.
They decide to travel straight forwards for an hour they think this way it will be easier to find their way back out of the wood, unfortunately the trees seemed to working against them sending them off track as they moved further through the trees as Dave looked ahead of himself he sees a figure looking out from one of the trees he rubs his eyes and then looks again and the figure had disappeared. Dave put it down to tiredness and decides to carry on the route. He felt it unnecessary to inform Richard of what he thought he had just saw because Richard would say he going crazy. They continue down the tourist trail until they reach the end of it. Dave comments on Richards so called mystery as just a tourist trail. But after this Richard cuts off the tourist trail and Dave follows reluctantly.
They get further into the deepest parts of the wood and as they venture further and further the trees seem to make it more and more difficult to pass almost as if they were working against them. They kept pushing on trying to get to whatever the trees are trying to stop them from reaching. After this they stumble upon a dark clearing in the wood which looks much more older than the rest of the wood. They wander around the clearing for a short amount of time and suddenly a lonely figure snakes out from the trees and starts speaking in some strange language which Richard and Dave do not seem to understand. They cover their ears as the speech somehow seems to get to the both of them even though they do not understand a single word of it.
It somehow makes both Dave and Richard want to run but at the same time it has made them both forget which way they came into the wood and they both head off in the wrong direction. Dave follows Richard assuming that Richard knows the way out of the wood. As Dave and Richard get further along they start to smell a sea air so they run towards it. They reach a tunnel which cuts under the local railway and road. They start to run through it and reach the end but shockingly the figure has somehow reached the end of the tunnel before them even though it was chasing them. This deeply unnerves both Richard and Dave. Richard starts to run and shouts of Dave to get him to run as well but he looks to where Dave was and he just wasn’t there anymore. Richard was shocked but he had to continue to try and escape the clutches of the figure so he decided to continue on the path he had chosen. It was too late to try and find Dave he had to escape. Richard ran as fast as he could he ventured deeper into the wood trying to fin his way out. He had no time to think he just had to escape. As he was nearing the tourist trail the figure somehow managed to appear again. He rubbed his eyes and it was still there then it started to take its hood off as Richard turned the wrong way slowly faints. Just before he faints he talks as loud as he can saying how can it be you?! Dave?

planned sound for film
the sound that i intend to use for this sequence will be similar to the jaws tune in it starting off slower and speeding up as the characters move closer to where the lonely figure is.

synopsis updated again
The actual film starts with a voice over that seemed to be either reading a story or recollecting on old memories. The film the lonely wood follows Richard and Dave when they read an old newspaper article which describes the mystery of the lonely wood by which their local wood has been named by the local population. They journey into the wood and venture away from the safety of the tourist trail which directs their trail into the realm of the demented figure who has made its home in this secluded part of the woods and likes being separated from the rest of the world and doesn’t like strangers and starts to chase Richard and Dave as they try to escape from the figure. Richard has forgotten which way they came to this area of the forest from and decided just to run as quick as possible Dave follows behind him assuming he knows the way out of the wood.
The two adventurers stumble upon a short tunnel which cuts under the local train tracks with a road running alongside them. They get to the end of the tunnel and are shocked when they find that the lonely figure is in front of them, this is designed to scare the audience. Richard tells Dave to get running and when he gets no answer he looks around and sees that Dave has disappeared. After this the lonely figure starts to laugh and Richard doubles back and get back to the other side of the tunnel and run back through the woods looking for the tourist trail and this sequence of the film ends with the figure him near by with Richard having a shocked expression like he just found out a crucial bit of information which he would not have thought possible . This is designed to keep the audience watching and to isolate them from one and another. Voice over explains that figure was not what the reader had thought it was, or possibly it was until Dave disappeared.
Richard then runs back onto the tourist track and keeps running and unlike he thought the figure keeps chasing like all of a sudden it is not afraid of the track as it had been before. This seemed a very strange event this brings a higher level of fear to an audience and makes them wonder how the figures instincts were broken it was almost as though the figures entire personality had changed. Richard gets into a clearing in the middle of the wood and he notices that the figure seems reluctant to head into the open light. It seemed almost as if the figure was scared of the light. As the figure tried to venture into the light it quickly ran back into the cover of the trees. This gave Richard a worrying possibility what if this figure just waited for night fall so Richard continued to run and the figure started to run around to catch up to him Richard ran as fast as he could to keep as far ahead of the figure as he could hoping that once he got back to the open world that he would be able to outwit the figure.
Then eventually Richard reaches the exit of the wood and annoyingly the figure has somehow managed to cut ahead of him and Richard looks behind himself and sees a second figure and begins to wonder how many of these figures are there and he thinks back to the newspaper and the amount of disappearances occurred over the years what if the people became these figures. Richard starts to blackout at this point the film seems to end with the line there is no escape, along with a secondary line stating as the voice over there is always an escape. The screen then flashes and shows Richard running past the lonely figures angry gets towards the motorway and hitches a ride away from the wood. Then the credits roll leaving the audience in dismay about what happened in the end.

aims and context updated
The context of my film sequence the lonely wood is about the journey of two friends exploring the woods after hearing of the strange happenings in the local news paper and want to investigate the mysterious events for themselves. I intend to show the audience the newspaper using a flashback.
My intended audience for this film to conform to people who are looking to be scared buy a horror film and want the film to send chills down their necks this is why a audience in the age group of 18 and over would most likely want to see a horror film. I plan for my film sequence to be of the horror genre so it will conform to the conventions of the horror genre, I will use mise en scene to convey the grim darkness of the scene, I will use dark damp patches of light to deliver the darkness of this sequence and to enstill fear into the audience. My sequence will use dark colours to further unsettle the audience and to conform to the conventions of the horror genre. I intend on having the 2 main characters being on opposite ends of intelligence to try and capture more people into the narrative of this sequence. I aim to make a sequence which draws an audience in and keeps the audience watching. I intend to use the stylistics which are common to horror films to give the audience what they want since a film cannot be its chosen genre unless it conforms to the conventions and stylistics that a typical audience expects from it.

storytype
my story type for my film sequence is the quest since the main character richard goes investigating in the woods after reading a old newspaper article about disappearances so this is a personal quest which easily has dire consequences.
film sequence influences
My film sequence is influenced by, the game half life 2 for its zombies which have their voices reversed. This is what I intend to use for the speech of my lonely figure.
I intend to use a similar end to my sequence as the one in night of the living dead (1968) since this leaves the viewer wanting to see more and if it was a full film then that would be the purpose of that cliff hanger to keep the audience watching for the next sequence. Apart from the main character won’t die.

lonely wood script
[Dave] why are we here anyway Richard, (camera cuts from a point of view shot of Richards view, to Dave’s point of view shot)
[Richard]I told you Dave I read an article in that 18 year old newspaper about the strange events in this wood and I want to investigate them.
[Camera fades out to a flash back of Richard reading the newspaper showing the article in question]
[Dave] I would have thought that disappearances would be something to stop you from looking into this.
[camera cuts to a close up of Dave with a horrified look on his face]
[camera cuts to a medium shot a Dave and Richard, and shows a figure running across in the distance]
[Richard] well I want to find why people disappear.
[camera cuts to a tracking shot of Dave and Richard walking down the tourist trail of the wood then jump cuts to the edge of the trail]
[Dave] I guess this is the end of you investigation
[Richard] well it isn’t going to be on the tourist trail under the thumb of the public
[Dave] It? [fades to close up of Dave’s face as he says it and displays the worried look on his face]
[cantered low angle shot of Dave and Richard leaving the tourist trail to convey to the audience that something bad is going to happen]
[jump cut to further down there route on a extreme long shot showing a figure watching them this gives the audience an idea what is happening while the main characters have no idea]
[Dave] do we need to go any further it feels like we’ve been walking for days[designed to convey to the audience the distance they have walked since the last shot.]
[Richard] shouldn’t be any further now.
[jump cut to them closing in on a eerily lonely part of the wood camera seems to start shaking from creating an illusion of fear from the main characters]
[Dave] what’s that thing [ as he points the camera pans towards were he is pointing showing a shrouded figure with a covered face]
[camera cuts to close up of Richards face showing that he thought he was clever so he didn’t need to fear but it is the opposite of that]
[high angle long shot of figure coming towards them as it does the camera starts to shake trying to bring fear into the audience]
[camera cuts to pov shot from the figures view as Dave and Richard start to run in a different direction from they came in at]
[camera starts to follow them illustrating that they figure is hot on their tail]
[camera slowly pans towards the side of them on a tracking shot showing that the figure is faster and smarter than what an audience would expect enstilling higher amounts of fear from the audience]
[camera cuts to a medium shot of a tunnel]
[Dave] I say we go in that tunnel
[Richard] agreed
[camera cuts to a point of view shot from Dave’s perspective trying to make the audience become attached to this character]
[jump cut to them reaching the end of the tunnel]
[over the shoulder shot of Richard looking behind him trying to see where the figure went]
[Richard] I think we lost it
[figure laughs in a somewhat reverse laugh]
[ camera slowly turns as Richard does]
[Richard then turns as quick as he can to run]
[Richard] Dave aren’t you going to run
[camera cuts to a over the shoulder shot showing Dave is nowhere to be found and the figure is hot on Richard tail]
[in fear the camera speeds up in pace as Richard does with an overlaying sound of a rapid heartbeat illustrating the deep amount of fear involved]
[Richard reaches near the tourist trail and just as he is going to exit to safety the figure appears in front of him]
[camera fades out in pulses matching the pace of the heart beat]

The Lonely Wood, Revised Aims and Context
I intend to use the stylistics which are common to horror films to give the audience what they want since a film cannot be its chosen genre unless it conforms to the conventions and stylistics that a typical audience expects from it.

the lonely wood story
Two people decide to go exploring their local wood which is coated with a bloody history which interests one of the two and decides that he wants to go exploring the wood to find out why exactly the place has such a bloody history. they go away from the tourist trail and venture deeper into the wood. A dark, dim and eerily strange part of the wood, which nobody dares to go into. The local nickname for the wood is the lonely wood. As the venture deeper into the heart of the wood the trees start to get closer and closer together, giving them slow route there but also making it more complicated to escape from the wood.
They decide to travel straight forwards for an hour they think this way it will be easier to find their way back out of the wood, unfourtunetly the trees seemed to working against them sending them off track as they venture closer to the heart of the wood.

Synopsis
The film the lonely wood follows Richard and Dave as they read up on a tale about the gruesome history of their local wood. They head into the wood and go away from the safety of the tourist trail which leads them into the realm of the demented figure who has made its home in this secluded part of the woods and doesn’t like being disturbed and starts to chase Richard and Dave as they try to escape from the figure. They can’t remember the way back to safety and Richard leads the way so Dave assumes that he knows where he is going and follows him.
The two adventurers then they find and short tunnel which cuts under a passing set of train tracks. They get to the end of the tunnel and the figure is in front of them, this is designed to scare the audience. They double back and get back to the other side of the tunnel and run back through the woods looking for the tourist trail and this sequence of the film ends with the figure watching them near by. This is designed to keep the audience watching and to isolate them from one and another.
